Mintz Levin attorneys apply our entrepreneurial spirit to our pro bono work—exemplified best by two first-year Associates who created the Domestic Violence Project in the early 1990s. This dynamic undertaking is now nationally recognized and has expanded from handling the individual cases of domestic violence survivors to representing dozens of nonprofits, writing appellate briefs, and lobbying at the state and national level.
All Summer Associates participate in our formal pro bono program. Examples of pro bono work performed by our Summer Associates include conducting the direct examination of an expert witness in a political asylum trial, advising a nonprofit founder on tax consequences, and assisting a low-income business owner with trademark issues.
The pro bono work we do profoundly impacts the people we serve. To see Mintz Levin’s 2009 Pro Bono Journal click here.
“The program was tremendous. I was excited to see results from the work I did come to fruition by the end of the summer, with a favorable result for our client.”
“I was really impressed by the amount and variety of pro bono opportunities, and the support they received not only from Summer Associates but from Associates and Members as well.”
“The pro bono program at Mintz Levin demonstrated the firm’s evident commitment to pro bono work and was a real treasure to find in such a big firm.”
