Mintz Levin Sponsors 2004 Virginia Biotechnology Summit

Mintz Levin is a leading sponsor of the 2004 Virginia Biotechnology Summit (VaBIO 2004), the annual convention for the Virginia biotech industry presented by Virginia Biotechnology Association. The event will be held at the McLean Hilton Hotel in Tyson's corner, October 12-13. More than 600 people are expected to attend.
Major speakers at the Summit will include:
- Dr. Jeremy Levin, global head of strategic alliances, Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research
- Burt A. Adelmann, M.D., executive vice president, Biogen-Idec
- Dr. Gerald Rubin, director of the Janelia Farm Research Campus of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute
- Steen Riisgaard, chief executive officer of Novozymes A/S
- John F. Crowley, chief executive officer of Orexigen Therapeutics, Inc.
The activities begin Monday, October 11 with the invitation-only 2004 Maryland-Virginia Biotechnology CEO-Only Dinner. The next morning, following the keynote on Tuesday, numerous concurrent sessions will be held on topics such as bioinformatics, drug discovery, the FDA approval process, systems biology, patent law, bio-defense, bioethics and venture capital formation. Tuesday afternoon also features the 2004 Virginia Bioscience Investors' Forum.
