Internet & e-Commerce

Mintz Levin attorneys represent a range of clients operating in the Internet space, including design and development companies, application service providers (ASPs), B2B exchanges, the world's largest Internet service provider, and investors in the industry. The expertise these clients seek from our attorneys includes advice on regulatory matters and contract negotiations; securities compliance; full-service representation on complex financings and corporate transactions such as public offerings, venture transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and a variety of marketing collaborations; and numerous other areas of practice, including intellectual property, employment, communications and immigration.

Financings

We have conducted billions of dollars of public and private financings for Internet companies, and have handled many mergers in the industry, ranging from the acquisition of small- and medium-sized companies, to large transactions involving high-profile national and international corporations. Our attorneys routinely handle collaborative arrangements such as co-branding, development, licensing, procurement, and distribution agreements. ASP transactions are supported by attorneys with outsourcing, technology and other relevant transactional skills and experience.

Intellectual Property

Our attorneys provide opinions, procurement and protection services in the areas of patents, trademarks and copyrights to our clients in the Internet and e-commerce space. Among the cutting areas of Intellectual Property law in which our attorneys are involved are business process patenting and digital copyright and other online content issues.

Human Resources

We have significant experience advising our Internet and e-commerce clients with respect to matters involving their employees in such areas as immigration, protection of proprietary information, compensation (including equity compensation), and benefits.

Communications

We regularly represent our clients on Federal Communications Commission matters as diverse as antitrust advice, regulatory due diligence, legislative advocacy, and representation in front of the Commission.
