International Transactions

We have a long history of handling a wide range of international matters for our U.S. and foreign clients.

Our international practice includes both inbound and outbound business transactions in fields as diverse as health care, biotechnology, finance, real estate, telecommunications and satellites, and computer hardware, software and services. Our recent representative experience includes technology transfers, licensing and distribution agreements, satellite procurement, securities offerings, joint ventures, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) financings, direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, advice concerning the establishment of health care/managed care systems, and protection of intellectual property. We also advise clients on compliance with complex export controls of such items as encryption tools, military or satellite goods and other technology, and on the development and implementation of compliance programs. When necessary, we conduct internal investigations and defend against enforcement actions.

Mintz Levin has a long-standing relationship with the OPIC, the Export-Import Bank of the United States, the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank group, the Department of State, the Department of Commerce and various other bilateral and multilateral agencies. This experience gives us a well-rounded approach to international transactions in general, and with key agencies in particular.

Mintz Levin has established many valuable relationships with law firms, other service providers, financial institutions and businesses around the world, and our worldwide network has time and time again proven instrumental in achieving clients' goals in international transactions. In addition, the firm is affiliated with, and extensively involved with, activities of various international organizations such as the European Institute and international bar associations. We also participate in international lawyer exchange programs; exchanges involving Washington, Germany and Japan are ongoing presently.
