Former Massachusetts Turnpike Authority General Counsel Rejoins Mintz Levin

Boston, MA - October 23, 2007 - Former Massachusetts Turnpike Authority General Counsel Peter R. Pendergast, who managed the legal aspects of the Big Dig, one of the largest public works projects in U.S. history, has rejoined the Boston office of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. as Of Counsel. Mr. Pendergast was previously with the firm from 1981-1987.

As General Counsel, Mr. Pendergast represented the Authority in high profile investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission, U.S. Department of Transportation Inspector General, U.S. Department of Justice, and the Massachusetts Attorney General, Auditor and Inspector General.  Additionally, Mr. Pendergast served on the Big Dig Executive Oversight Committee, designed the Authority's securities disclosure system and served as securities disclosure officer.

Prior to serving with the Turnpike Authority, Mr. Pendergast represented the investment banking firm, Kidder Peabody & Co., Incorporated for nearly a decade, as resident outside counsel, where he dealt with litigation, arbitration and regulatory matters with the SEC, NASD, NYSE and state securities. 

Earlier in his career at Mintz Levin, Mr. Pendergast specialized in business litigation and regulatory matters including securities litigation, arbitration and investigations, environmental litigation and regulatory matters for a national waste management company; construction arbitration; insurance fraud cases and regulatory issues.
 
A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Pendergast earned his law degree from Duke University Law School.
