Bryan J. Sinclair, Karineh Khachatourian and Jeffrey M. Ratinoff Join Mintz Levin
Palo Alto, CA – A group of leading patent litigators, formerly of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, have joined the Palo Alto office of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., continuing the expansion of the firm's West Coast presence and its Intellectual Property practice. Bryan J. Sinclair and Karineh Khachatourian have joined as Members. Jeffrey M. Ratinoff has joined as Of Counsel. The new group comes to Mintz Levin on the heels of Matthew C. Bernstein and John Giust who joined the firm's San Diego office from Fish & Richardson last week.

Mr. Sinclair served most recently as head of the Silicon Valley office of the Buchanan firm. Throughout his career he has represented clients in a variety of intellectual property matters, including patent, trademark and trade secret litigation, complex commercial litigation involving intellectual property rights, licensing of such rights and corporate transactional matters. Mr. Sinclair also has extensive experience counseling clients in technology-related industries such as consumer electronics, telecommunications, computer software and semiconductor design, manufacture and inspection. Some of his recent matters include the handling of patent infringement claims asserted against manufacturers of liquid crystal displays, Internet traffic manager products, digital measurement devices, semiconductor wafer inspection tools, as well as the prosecution of claims relating to circuit design and electronic design automation software, telecommunication networking components, and ornamental designs of consumer electronic devices.
Mr. Sinclair received his undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University and his law degree from St. Thomas University where served as editor of the St. Thomas Law Review. He is admitted to the bar in California, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Central, Eastern and Southern Districts of California and the United States Courts of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, the Eleventh Circuit and the Federal Circuit.
Ms. Khachatourian served most recently as head of the Buchanan firm's Intellectual Property Litigation group in California. She has significant experience in a wide range of intellectual property and commercial litigation matters, including disputes over trade secret misappropriation, unfair business practices, patent infringement, patent licensing, inventorship and ownership issues, antitrust, trademark infringement and a variety of business torts. Ms. Khachatourian's technical experience includes silicon wafer inspection tools, integrated circuit simulation tools, computer software and hardware, consumer electronics and related computer peripherals, LCD technology and nutraceutical and health related products. Ms. Khachatourian also serves as President of the Women's Intellectual Property Lawyers' Association.
Ms. Khachatourian earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from New York University and her J.D. from George Washington University National Law Center. She is admitted to the bars in California and Massachusetts, the United States District Courts for the Central, Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of California.
Mr. Ratinoff's intellectual property litigation experience includes matters involving claims of patent infringement, theft of trade secrets, trademark infringement, copyright infringement and unfair competition asserted in connection with software, semiconductor wafer inspection and integrated circuit design simulation tools. In addition, Mr. Ratinoff has represented technology based clients in a variety of commercial litigation matters, including securities fraud actions, contract and licensing disputes, false advertising, defamation and business torts. Mr. Ratinoff has appeared before the California Courts of Appeal and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Mr. Ratinoff earned his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of California at San Diego and his law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law. He is admitted to the bar in California and he is admitted to practice in all United States District Courts of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
