Bruce Sokler Named Outstanding Healthcare Antitrust Lawyer for 2008 by Nightingale's Healthcare News

Named to List for Second Consecutive Year

Washington, D.C. - Bruce Sokler, Chair of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C.'s Antitrust and Federal Regulatory section, has been named a 2008 Outstanding Healthcare Antitrust Lawyer by Nightingale's Healthcare News, a monthly healthcare industry publication.  This is the second consecutive year that he has been selected to the list. 

Mr. Sokler was acknowledged for his outstanding antitrust counseling to CVS Caremark since 1986 and his recent representation of CVS in its $2.7 billion acquisition of Long's Drugs, including obtaining FTC HSR clearance and opposing Walgreen's competing expression of interest at the FTC.  In addition, he was recognized for his counsel to a large independent practice group in developing a clinical integration program.

Mr. Sokler is resident in the firm's Washington, D.C. office and has practiced antitrust law for over 30 years.  His practice includes antitrust counseling, representation in connection with federal and state governmental matters, as well as private antitrust litigation.  He counsels and has represented Fortune 100 companies, not-for-profits, start up entities, and domestic and international joint ventures.  Mr. Sokler has been involved in antitrust matters spanning a broad range of industries, but with particularly deep expertise in the communications, health care and retail industries.

He received his A.B., cum laude, from Princeton University in 1971, and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law School in 1974, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Georgetown Law Journal.
