Carl A. Kukkonen, III Selected a 2009 "40 Under 40" Honoree by San Diego Metropolitan

San Diego, CA – Carl A. Kukkonen, III, a member in the Intellectual Property Section and Energy and Clean Tech Practice Group in the San Diego office of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., has been named to San Diego Metropolitan's 2009 "40 Under 40" list. The 10th annual award recognizes the region's exceptional young business and civic leaders. This year's honorees will be recognized at a luncheon on September 18 at the San Diego Convention Center.
Mr. Kukkonen's practice focuses on strategic intellectual property counseling including advice on patent infringement and validity, preparation and prosecution of patent applications, licensing, and due diligence studies. He also works closely with the Mintz Levin Corporate Practice to regularly counsel emerging growth companies on issues ranging from entity formation and governance to venture capital financings and technology transactions. Mr. Kukkonen is also committed to fostering a clean tech community in San Diego both professionally by counseling early stage companies in a variety of technologies and as a member of the board of CleanTECH San Diego, which is a new non-profit membership organization formed to accelerate San Diego as a world leader in the clean technology economy.

In addition to his technology practice, Mr. Kukkonen is committed to the growth and future of Mintz Levin as Chair of the San Diego office's Entry Level Hiring Committee. Mr. Kukkonen also serves on the board of the MIT Enterprise Forum, which serves as "the global voice of entrepreneurship" as a platform for entrepreneurial networking, inspiration and education in San Diego.
Mr. Kukkonen is admitted to practice in California and is registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He received his B.S. from Harvey Mudd College, and his J.D., with honors, from George Washington University.
