Firm Recognized for Commitment to Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps

Boston, MA - Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. has been chosen as one of the Boston Business Journal's 2010 "Partners of the Year" for its work on behalf of the Robert F. Kennedy Children's Action Corps.  The annual Partner of the Year list recognizes Boston area companies for their commitment to community involvement through productive partnerships with nonprofit groups.  Mintz Levin and the RFK Children's Action Corps are being recognized in the Education and Training category.  They will accept the award at the Boston Business Journal's Corporate Citizenship Summit on September 10, 2010.

Mintz Levin’s 20-year commitment to eradicating domestic violence mirrors the vision of the RFK Children's Action Corps.  Over 75% of the children served by the organization have witnessed or been victims of domestic violence and 85% have been sexually or physically abused.  Recent funding cuts have forced the organization to cut programs and services.  Working with Mintz Levin attorneys, the RFK Children's Action Corps has created and is implementing a long-term strategic plan to diversify funding sources for the agency.

"The RFK Children's Action Corps sees the devastating effects that domestic violence and sexual assault have on the most vulnerable victims – children – everyday," said Michael F. Connolly, a Member of Mintz Levin's Litigation practice and Chairman of the Board of the RFK Children's Action Corps.  "Our partnership has enabled us to become involved and support important programs and services that have a profound impact of the lives of at-risk children."

"Similar to the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy, Mintz Levin believes that privileges and advantages come with a responsibility to help those less fortunate," said Edward Kelley, President and CEO of the RFK Children's Action Corps. "They have played a significant role in helping our organization achieve its goals and ensuring its future longevity and success."

Recently Mintz Levin received the prestigious ABA Pro Bono Publico Award in recognition of the firm's "outstanding commitment to volunteer legal services" in connection with work leading to the passage of a landmark sexual assault, stalking and harassment law in Massachusetts.

The Partners of the Year program honors companies engaged in partnerships in Healthcare, Innovation, Education and Training and the Arts. These companies were recognized for their impact on the community and non profit partners, among other factors.
