Mintz Levin Attorney Rashi Mittal Appointed to Leadership Committee of American Bar Association’s Antitrust Section

Washington, D.C.Rashi Mittal, an Associate in Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C.’s Antitrust & Federal Regulation Section, has been selected to serve as the Young Lawyer’s Representative of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Antitrust Section Membership and Equal Opportunity Committee for 2011-2012.  Ms. Mittal’s position on the Section’s leadership committee will begin on August 9, 2011.

The ABA Section of Antitrust Law is the leading professional organization for those interested in the fields of antitrust and competition law, trade regulation, consumer protection and economics.  The Membership and Equal Opportunity Committee is charged with growing the membership of the Antitrust Section and advancing the full and equal participation of its members. The committee provides information to members about the Section's structure, operations, and its committees; and develops marketing strategies to recruit new members and retain current members. The committee also undertakes specific initiatives and hosts numerous programs and events designed to enhance the participation of women, minorities, and other under represented communities.

As an attorney in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, Ms. Mittal provides counseling on a wide range of federal regulatory issues, including antitrust and consumer product safety matters. She serves as outside counsel for an appliance industry trade association, and counsels them on issues relating to antitrust concerns with standard-setting, consumer protection and consumer product safety. She also assists clients in responding to civil investigative demands (CIDs) and second requests issued by government agencies, such as the Federal Trade Commission.  Ms. Mittal has recently published articles on governance issues and antitrust concerns with Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) (the new model to increase efficiency and decrease costs for Medicare patients).

She serves as one of the general directors of the board of directors of the South Asian Bar Association-DC and is a part of the programming committee for the 2011 North American South Asian Bar Association Convention.  Ms. Mittal is also the professional development pillar chair for the 20th Annual Network of Indian Professionals North America Conference 2011, and served as a panel producer for the India track of the TiECON East 2010 conference.  She has also served as the Boston Bar Association’s New Lawyer’s Committee Liaison.

Ms. Mittal received her B.A. with honors from Stanford University and her J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where she served on the staff of the Boston University International Law Journal.
