Boston, MA -- Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. attorney Helen Gerostathos Guyton will receive the "Shining Star" Award from the Victim Rights Law Center, for her exceptional pro bono work on behalf of sexual assault victims. The annual awards reception will be held on September 14 and will also honor Senator Pam Resor and Representative Peter Koutoujian.
Founded in 2000, the Victim Rights Law Center (VRLC) is the first in the nation dedicated solely to protecting the legal rights of sexual assault victims within the civil, academic and criminal justice systems. Through its three major activities (free legal services, legal training and community partnerships), VRLC not only provides individual representation to survivors, but also works to improve the legal system for sexual assault victims both in the state of Massachusetts and nationwide.
Ms. Gerostathos Guyton is being honored with the "Shining Star" Award for her dedication in representing numerous sexual assault victims, training and mentoring VRLC attorneys, as well as her instrumental role in drafting legislation to provide criminally enforceable civil orders of protection to victims of sexual assault.
"We are extremely proud of Helen's commitment to justice on behalf of sexual assault victims," said Steven P. Rosenthal and Andrew R. Urban, Co-Managing Members of the firm. "Not only is she deserving of this honor by the Victim Rights Law Center, but she also sets a strong example of advocacy for the entire legal profession."

Her practice focuses on complex civil litigation matters, with a particular emphasis on class action and products liability disputes. She is a member of the Class Action Working Group and has experience defending consumer, unfair trade practice and antitrust class actions. With significant products liability experience, Ms. Gerostathos Guyton has counseled and defended manufacturers in a variety of fields including aviation, environmental litigation and general consumer goods disputes.

She has assisted numerous victims of sexual assault, stalking and domestic violence in obtaining protective orders and she has also drafted amicus briefs to the United States Supreme Court and various state supreme courts on behalf of domestic violence and sexual assault victims. Ms. Gerostathos Guyton received her B.A. from American University (1996) and her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law (2002).
