Mintz Levin's Health Law Section prepares Health Care Fraud Report

9/11/2007

September 11, 2007

The Bureau of National Affairs has asked Mintz Levin attorney Tom Crane and its health law section, to prepare an analysis of the new physician self referral regulation, known as Stark III, issued by HHS's Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The Stark law prohibits physicians from referring Medicare patients for "designated health services" to entities with which they have a financial relationship not protected by an exception. CMS makes important changes to the Stark regulations, and because strict compliance with these rules is so important, a thorough understanding of them is essential. The BNA Health Care Fraud Report expects to publish our article on September 26, and will post it on our website soon after that.
