Scott is a member in the firm's San Diego office, where he practices in the Real Estate Section. His real estate practice is both national and local, and includes advising landlords and tenants on all aspects of leasing and corporate facilities transactions; individual and institutional owners and developers of shopping center, office, and commercial projects; and developers and other property owners in complex financial structuring and restructuring transactions. He works on joint venture investments by U.S. companies and institutional investors in real estate assets in Mexico for the acquisition, leasing, and development of industrial maquiladora facilities, office buildings, shopping center, and residential developments, including negotiation of design and construction agreements.

Scott advises a number of foreign and domestic biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients in connection with their facilities requirements, and has developed an expertise in the interdisciplinary requirements of these companies in the leasing, financing, and development of their laboratory and manufacturing facilities. This work entails a comprehensive understanding of infrastructure requirements, operational and environmental issues, and licensing considerations.

He also represents landowners and automobile dealers in the financing, acquisition, and development of dealership facilities, as well as owners and tenants of medical office building and campus facilities.

Land acquisition and construction financing for a headquarters campus of over 6 million square feet on approximately 225 acres, located in San Jose, California, for a major networking company in multiple phases, utilizing conduit loan facilities from multiple lenders.
Construction financing and construction document negotiations for an approximately 2.2 million square foot R&D/office/manufacturing facility campus (including up to $95 million of tax increment financing) in Emeryville, California on multiple ground leased parcels.
Land acquisition, construction, and equipment financing for an approximately 50,000 square foot semiconductor chip fabrication facility in Milpitas, California.
Land acquisition, development, and construction financing for an approximately 240,000 square foot campus facility on 11 acres in San Diego, California for a medical device company.
Construction and revolving credit facility financing for an approximately 750,000 square foot campus facility in Northridge, California for a medical device manufacturer.
Land acquisition, development, and construction financing for an approximately 425,000 square foot campus facility constructed on a 19-acre Brownfields site in Mountain View, California for a major network storage company.
Line of credit acquisition financing for various Internet data center facilities throughout the U.S. and Europe for a provider of Internet systems and network management solutions.
Line of credit acquisition financing for manufacturing facilities in various locations throughout the United States, and the lease financing of a manufacturing plant in Japan for outsourced production of computer game consoles, for a major electronics contract manufacturer.

Scott is admitted to practice in California. He received his B.S. from the United States Naval Academy (1984) and earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania (1992), where he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. Scott spent his post-undergraduate naval service as a nuclear-trained submarine officer on U.S.S Louisville.
