Mintz Levin's biotechnology, medical device and pharmaceuticals, and health care practices are among the leading practices in the Northeast, representing many companies involved in these rapidly evolving industries. As part of our service to these clients, our real estate, business and finance, and health care attorneys have formed the Health and Biotechnology Facilities Group. This group brings a multidisciplinary approach to developing, leasing and financing health care and biotechnology facilities. Developer and user services include preparation and negotiation of specialized architectural and construction contracts and leases, and assisting clients in the analysis of and compliance with local regulations on specialized uses such as biotechnology research and manufacturing facilities, outpatient clinics, drug rehabilitation centers, and nuclear medicine facilities, many of which are not anticipated uses under current municipal zoning bylaws. On the financing side, we offer insight into the special issues affecting these types of facilities, particularly where traditional lenders' remedies are not available. In appropriate matters, our Business and Finance Section assists in all aspects of taxable and tax-exempt bond financing.
