Waiver of J-1 Home Residency Requirement
Mintz Levin attorneys regularly assist physicians, scientists, and others to obtain waivers of the two-year home residence requirement sometimes associated with the J-1 visa. Mintz Levin has experience obtaining J-1 waivers through the following methods:
- "No-objection" letters from a foreign embassy
- Interested Government Agency support (i.e., U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or U.S. Veterans Administration)
- Conrad 30 waivers through state departments of health for physicians
- Hardship waivers
In the firm's work in each of these categories, attorneys have substantial experience with the U.S. Department of State, the agency charged with administering and finally recommending the approval of waiver applications.
