Annie received her doctorate degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the supervision of Prof. Richard R. Schrock, the 2005 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry. Her doctoral research included organometallic catalysis and the synthesis and characterization of chemical compounds and polymers. More specifically, her research focused on the synthesis of molybdenum and tungsten alkylidene based catalysts and olefin metathesis, e.g., ring-opening polymerization metathesis, homocoupling of terminal olefins, and catalytic mechanistic pathways.

Annie has co-authored several papers in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of American Chemical Society and Organometallics. She also is a co-inventor of a patent application for homocoupling of terminal olefins using molybdenum and tungsten mono-pyrrolide aryloxide catalysts.
