Tania’s practice focuses on the representation of emerging growth technology companies. She counsels biotech, medical device, life science, clean tech, and alternative energy companies as well as venture capital and private equity funds in connection with mergers and acquisitions, early- and late-stage equity financings, debt financings, recapitalizations, public and private offerings of securities, and general corporate matters.

In total, Tania has represented more than 50 companies in over $500 million in venture capital financings.

Her practice also includes the representation of companies in connection with the negotiation of consulting services, sponsored research agreements, licenses, and collaboration agreements.

Tania is part of the firm’s Hiring Committee and Diversity Committee. She has also represented several pro bono clients in connection with the Economic Justice Project, a pro bono legal services program that services low-income entrepreneurs who are starting their own businesses.
 
Before joining the firm, Tania worked with Christopher Matthews, the former Washington Bureau Chief for the San Francisco Examiner and current host of MSNBC’s political talk show Hardball with Chris Matthews.

  • Represented FoldRx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in its sale to Pfizer, Inc. (NYSE: PFE) (undisclosed amount)
  • Represented Hypnion, Inc. in its sale to Eli Lilly and Company ($315 million)
  • Represented Verathon, Inc. in its sale to Roper Industries
  • Represented Synta Pharmaceuticals Corp. in its collaboration agreement with GlaxoSmithKline to develop and commercialize a product for metastatic melanoma in a deal worth more than $1 billion (one of the largest such transactions ever completed for a single therapy)
  • Represented FoldRx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in its collaboration agreement with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, whereby FoldRx received $22 million (one of the largest for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutic) to be used in the development of products to treat cystic fibrosis
  • Represented Kleiner Perkins-backed GMZ Energy, Inc. and Solasta Corp. in venture capital financings and general corporate matters
