The most significant change to the Medicare program since its inception in 1965 -- the Part D prescription drug benefit -- will take effect less than one year from today. After analyzing over 7700 comments and working with countless industry groups, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published the final regulations implementing Part D in the Federal Register on January 28, 2005, and they can be accessed online through a direct link. The analysis and comments include extensive discussion on the many complex aspects of implementation.
