Employment Advisory: Employers' Obligations Regarding Military Reservist Employees

The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA) governs the employment, reemployment and employee benefits rights of those employees who return to employment after military service. USERRA also protects employees who voluntarily enlist. This advisory discusses employer and employee responsibilities and rights under USERRA, as one of the largest reserve deployments in recent history is taking place in preparation for possible war with Iraq.
