"The Central Artery/Tunnel project in Boston, MA - better known as the 'Big Dig' - is widely viewed as the largest, most complex, and most technologically challenging highway project in the country's history.  Started in the early 1990s, the federally funded project took more than 15 years to complete, at a cost of more than $15 billion, after an orgiginal estimate of $2.8 billion.  Often around the clock, suppliers placed about 4 million yd of ready mixed concrete.  Miles of underground roads were constructed beneath the city and its harbor while millions of commuters continued to travel above."

In this article, "The Big Dig: Seven Lessons Learned," published in February 2011 in Concrete International, Mintz Levin attorneys Benjamin B. Tymann and Kenneth C. Sullivan outline the important lessons which can be drawn from the failures and episodes of noncompliance that are evident from this epic construction project.
