Starting in 2014, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will require some health insurance policies to meet new requirements pertaining to the provision of “essential health benefits.” On December 16, the Department of Health and Human Services issued a bulletin proposing that states be granted significant flexibility in implementing these requirements.
